Los Angeles

I actually spent most of the LA day in the car which doesn't sound great but it's actually a very LA thing to do! We did drive down rodeo drive and sunset boulevard before getting out on Hollywood boulevard and seeing the stars on the floor, Mans Chinese theatre and the Hollywood sign. I don't really have much to say about LA because it's definitely not my favourite place in the world! I then checked into my hotel, had my last dinner with the group before going to bed ready to fly to San Francisco the next morning :)

San Diego

When we first got to San Diego it was cloudy and cold and we were not impressed as we thought it was a guaranteed place to get sun! Anyway as we arrived late afternoon we just got changed and went for dinner at a really nice Italian tapas style restaurant. After dinner we went to a bar called the tipsy crow that works like the stock market. I would like to thank the lack of people drinking Jack Daniels as that was the cheapest JD I found in America maybe even in my life! The next day we just decided to chill at the beach and managed to get sunburnt, yes I burnt my face and yes I looked ridiculous. We then watched the sunset on our last real night together as a group :(

Las Vegas

Friday we drove to vegas stopping at the famous Route 66 town sleigman. When we got to vegas we went straight to a buffet lunch at Paris where they had all the food you could imagine, I ate so much that I cannot even remember what I had! After our late lunch we went for a wander around the shops and I had to refrain from buying everything in sephora. We then went back to get ready for our Friday night out in vegas! We had a party bus booked that took us to Fremont street , the vegas sign and the Bellagio fountains and then we were supposed to go to a club called XS in the Encore hotel but were denied entry despite being on the guest list (I'm so excited to write my trip advisor review on this club it's quite sad). Anyway we went back to our hotel, Ballys and had a few drinks there while playing a few games at the casino. The next day we just had a chilled out day checking out a few of the hotels before going back to our hotel pool for a few hours. I then got ready to go on a night time helicopter flight over vegas with a couple of the other girls. In this space of time I managed to lose my voice and would later find out that I'd got laryngitis! The helicopter ride was very short but amazing to see the strip all lit up and see how it sticks out compared to the rest of vegas. After our flight we sat in vegas traffic for ages before getting out at caesars palace to meet a few of the others who had been to see celine dion and went for a few drinks in the bellagios lounge bar lily? Then that was our vegas adventure over and it was on to San Diego...

Grand Canyon

On Tuesday we went to Monument Valley where we had a jeep tour organised. Obviously first we stopped in the road where Forest Gump stopped running to take our pictures! Then we had time to look round the visitors centre and take in the views before we met our Navajo guide to take us on our jeep tour. The jeep tour was so much fun as we got to drive right through the valley seeing all of it not just the famous bit everyone knows from the films. After our jeep tour we were able to have dinner with the Navajo and we were then treated to entertainment as the sun set over Monument Valley. This day has by far been one of my favourite on the trip, it was such an amazing experience that I will probably never get the opportunity to do again. x-x

Apologies

Sorry for my lack of posts recording my last few days of trip across the country! But I safely got to San Francisco last week and I've been busy on Lego Star Wars duty! Anyway you're about to get 4 posts in one day!

Santa Fe

The next day we travelled to Santa Fe, stopping in Roswell to visit the UFO museum. We paid $2 to get in (far too much) though it was meant to be $5 for what can only been described as a middle school science project. Although, I did learn some new stuff so I can't be too harsh! We then made our way to Santa Fe, which I've added to my list of favourite cities. I had no idea what to expect from Santa Fe but it's actually a really cool, laid back city that reminded me of Sedona. As a city Santa Fe actually has rule that all of their buildings have to be painted a shade of brown to keep in line with the authenticity of the city, which is very much centred around its history regarding the struggle between the Native American and Spanish as to who ruled Santa Fe and these influences can be seen clearly in the architecture. I visited the church of st Francis, the museum of contemporary Native American art and browsed round the shops because much like New Orleans the shops are more boutiques than mainstream fashion shops. For dinner we went to a Tex Mex restaurant as Santa Fe is famous for this type of food. I had a chalupa, which I had never heard of before but it's basically a flat taco with a layer of refried beans, chicken, lettuce, tomato and onion, topped with guacamole and it was the nicest Mexican food ever! We also decided we should probably have margaritas while we were there and for some reason I thought it was wise to order 'the swirl' which was a frozen margarita mixed with sangria which was really nice but I now understand why there was a limit of 2 frozen margaritas per person! x-x
